Embarrassed by this behavior and the family’s financial plight, Chuck Norris developed a debilitating introversion that lasted for his entire childhood.

At age 16, Scarberry and Dee Norris got married, however, Dee Norries later abandoned the family and left Wilma to raise Chuck Norris and his two brothers alone. Chuck who was the eldest of the three boys often had to assume the role of his absent father. Chuck Norris was playing the role of the father at the age of 14, helping his mother to pay the bills and keep the family running.

“Mom has been an example of perseverance and faith her whole life,” Norris wrote in an article when his mother turned 100 in 2021. “She’s also endured the deaths of her two husbands, a stepson, two grandchildren, and my younger brother Wieland in the Vietnam War. She’s had cancer repeatedly and has gone through roughly 30 different surgeries for a host of issues — and yet she’s still here to tell about it.”
Chuck Norris couldn’t believe his mother turned 100
The loving son of a wonderful mother couldn’t believe his mother was able to live this long to see him make it and also turn 100. “I can’t believe it, and neither can my mom. She turns 100 years young this week on May 4. Wow! I looked at her a few days ago and said, “You’re a centenarian!” She replied in jest, “I’m not a centipede!“”- the actor wrote in an article for WND.
The Delta Force actor also went on to write-“Mom, I don’t know what’s more difficult to believe: that you are 100 years old or that you have a son who is 81 years old!” Wilma Scarberry has always prayed for her son through his thicks and thins. Even the tough guy chuck Norris never hid how much he loves his mother, Wilma Scarberry. Wilma Scarberry is now the grandmother of Chuck Norris’ six children- Mike Norris, Dakota Alan Norris, Danilee Kelly Norris, Dina Norris, and Eric Norris.
