“Victory Restored For NPP’s Amewu As AG Invokes Ho Court Injunction On Election Results”

The office of the Attorney General has ordered the revoking of the ruling from the High Court who passed an interim judgement to halt the gazetting of the Hohoe election results. A post made by the cousin of the president, Akufo Addo and also the lead met of the African Legal Associates, Gabby Otchere Darko.

After his elections in Hohoe which saw massive support for John Peter Amewu who won with over 5,000 differences which uprooted the incumbent. His victory has caused a lot of agitations in the NDC wanting to reverse the outcome since that was one of their strongholds. The people of Hohoe actually voted in a skit and blouse manner.

As part of the their accusations that the election results were flawed, the party made stern efforts to grab the Hoehoe seats.

Aside from these quests from the NDC, there was a revelation that three former towns in the constituency were excluded from the voting of parliamentary elections in the just ended General elections. The people of towns like Lolobi and the other three towns were able to take part in the voting of the presidential elections.

Based on this the NDC sent a petition to halt the gazetting of the results of the parliamentary elections and also the swearing-in of Amewu till the issue has been resolved. Today, according to Gabby Otchere Darko, the Attorney acting on the law has revoked the judgment passed by the Ho High Court presided by Justice George Boadi. This leaves the MP-Elect, Amewu to still enjoy the title as MP-elect for the people of Hoehoe constituency in Volta Region.

The Attorney General has filed an application to invoke the supervisory jurisdiction of the Supreme Court for an order of certiorari directed at the High Court, Ho, Volta Region, for the Supreme Court to quash the orders of the High Court, Ho, given 23rd December, placing an injunction against the Hohoe MP-elect taking his seat.  The AG is also seeking an order to prohibit the High Court of Justice George Boadi, from further hearing or conducting proceedings in the said suit
