She is the daughter of the actress and her ex-husband actor, Weston Skeates. Tara has 6 siblings, two from her mother’s side, a biological brother Alexander Newley, and a half-sibling Katyana Kennedy Kass. She has four step-siblings from his father’s side – Simon Newley, Shelby Newley, Christopher Newley, and Polly Gough.

Tara Newley’s father, Anthony Newley was an English actor, singer, songwriter, and filmmaker. He was dubbed a “latter-day British Al Jolson” and achieved widespread success in song, as well as on stage and screen. “One of Broadway’s greatest leading men,” he had a dozen entries on the UK Top 40 chart between 1959 and 1962, including two number-one hits.

Tara Newley’s parents got married in 1963, and that was the second marriage both of them are getting into. Joan Collins’ daughter didn’t follow her to Hollywood, though her mother revealed she encouraged her to appear on the iconic show Star Trek. She said- “When I was asked to do Star Trek, I remember saying to my agent, ‘Well, what is Star Trek?’ I’d never heard of it,” she told StarTrek.com in an interview.

Collins continued: “When I told my children — who were then about two and four — that I’d been asked to do Star Trek, my daughter [who was the older child- Tara Newley] jumped up and down and said, ‘Oh, mum, you must do it. It’s a great show.’ So that’s why I did it.”

Tara Newley is a writer, broadcaster, and producer. Tara previously lived in Paris for two years where she studied at The American College in Paris. This was where her poetry and journalism was first publicized. She later transferred to Boston University to study English, French, and Russian literature and poetry with at Harvard.

In the early 1990s, she was a television presenter and recording artist signed to Boy George’s More Protein label with Virgin. Tara Newley wrote the lyrics and sang on the E-Zee Possee single “Breathing Is E-Zee”, which went to No. 72 on the UK Singles Chart in 1991. Joan Collins’ daughter also went on to release the single “Save Me from Myself” in 1993 on ZTT Records and a duet with her father on a version of “Why”.

Tara’s father Anthony Newley passed away in 1999. At her 2016 wedding to her second husband, Nick Gilador Arkle, Joan Collins’ fifth husband who she is 31 years older than, Percy Gibson, gave the bride away.

Narrating the experience “It was a joy from beginning to end,” Tara Newley said of her wedding day in an interview with the Daily Mail. “Percy gave me away and we walked down the aisle to Dad’s hit, ‘Feeling Good.‘ ” Tara has two children, Miel Adam and Weston Skeates, both from previous relationships.

Talking to Sunday Mirror about what it is like to be the daughter, of Joan Collins, Tara Newley said- “I was six when my parents split up and 14 when they offered me plastic surgery[a nose job]. Now mum is my best friend… and my babysitter.”

Talking about the plastic surgery she recalled- “It wasn’t that they were trying to create the perfect child or anything. I was a teenager and you know what teenagers are. Their bodies are always wrong, a different bit each day… Mum and Dad said, ‘Look, if you aren’t happy with your nose, no problem, we’ll pay for a nose job’. But I said no. Young as I was, I realised that if I had gone along, it would have turned me into a manufactured person, and I didn’t want that.
