Stephanie’s mother was a member of the vocal group the I Threes, along with Marcia Griffiths and Judy Mowatt, who gained recognition as the backing vocalists for Bob Marley and the Wailers. The father of Stephanie recorded four songs, “Judge Not”, “One Cup of Coffee”, “Do You Still Love Me?” and “Terror” in 1962. He recorded it at Federal Studios for local music producer Leslie Kong and three of the songs were released on Beverley’s with “One Cup of Coffee”, released under the pseudonym, Bobby Martell.

Yes Stephanie Marley’s father, Bob Marley is dead. He was diagnosed with a type of malignant melanoma under a toenail. He rejected his doctors’ advice to have his toe amputated and despite his illness, he still went on touring and was in the process of scheduling a 1980 world tour. He was battling cancer and his health deteriorated. His cancer had spread throughout his body.

Bob Marley died on 11 May 1981, aged 36, due to the spread of melanoma to his lungs and brain. He was given a state funeral in Jamaica on 21 May 1981. His funeral combined elements of Ethiopian Orthodoxy and Rastafari tradition. He was buried in a chapel near his birthplace with his guitar. Bob Marley may be dead but his legacy continues through his music and children.
