Sonia Constance Josephine Copeland was born in 1941, in Kolkata, West Bengal, India to her parents Francis John Copeland and Betty Constance Josephine Walker. She is 82 years old as of 2023. In 2021, the actor posted the amazing footage on his Instagram account. The actor shared footage of his mum Sonia Constance Josephine Copeland showing off her best moves in the garden. She looked incredible in a pair of black leggings and a matching sports top as she showed off her best ballet moves.

He said the video with the caption- “am I the only one in disbelief that my mum is 80 years old this month 😮⁉️❤️”. The video was well met by his followers as they admire her. One wrote, “She is beautiful, what great energy she exudes! Happy birthday,” a fourth added.
The mother-son bond is very strong. Sonia Copeland Bloom wrote to her local newspaper and defended her son after he used the word ‘pikey’ on national radio. The Lord of the Rings star, 40, found himself at the centre of a race storm after the interview.
Bloom was discussing his latest film on the breakfast show when he was asked if he still performed his own stunts. He replied: ‘I’m still a pikey from Kent, boy. I’m still a pikey from Kent. boy. You don’t want to get on the wrong side of me, boy.’

The actor faced a backlash and was even branded ‘a fool’ by gypsy leaders as the term is widely deemed derogatory towards gypsies and travellers.
The actor apologised saying he was not poking fun at travellers, adding: ‘I’ve come from Kent and I grew up with a lot of, like, freewheeling, cool, interesting characters like that. Like any mother will do, Sonia Constance Josephine Copeland jumped in the defence of his only son.
In a letter published in the Kentish Gazette, Orlando Bloom’s mother rushed to his defence, saying: ‘I think anyone listening would have known it was said jokingly about the place where he was born and bred.
‘Orlando, I feel sure, was referring to the fact he enjoys mixing with people from all walks of life. ‘He is a friendly, courteous, respectful guy, happy to meet, chat, sign autographs, and take selfies with anyone who asks.’
Sonia Constance Josephine Copeland rang the National Federation of Gypsy Liaison Groups as soon as they row broke out to calm the waters with the traveller community. She added in the letter: ‘I contacted the National Federation of Gypsy Liaison Groups, the official body for the welfare of gypsies, and their co-ordinator immediately said they were not in the least upset about his remark, since they realised the whole incident was blown out of all proportion. Nevertheless, they appreciated his apology.
