Shasheem Najm’s son T-Pain was born Faheem Rashad Najm on September 30, 1984, in Tallahassee, Florida, U.S. His alternative names are Teddy Verseti, Teddy Penderazdoun, and Teddy Pain. His stage name T-Pain, short for “Tallahassee Pain”, was chosen due to the hardships he experienced while living there.

T-Pain was just 10 years old when he turned his bedroom into a music studio. He used a keyboard, a beat machine, and a four-track recorder at the time. He eventually became part of the rap group Nappy Headz in 1999. In 2002, T-Pain founded his own label, Hard & B.

T-Pain got to record “I’m Fucked Up”, a cover version of Akon’s single “Locked Up”. He got the attention of singer, record producer, and entrepreneur Akon.
