Shasheem Najm’s son T-Pain was born Faheem Rashad Najm on September 30, 1984, in Tallahassee, Florida, U.S. His alternative names are Teddy Verseti, Teddy Penderazdoun, and Teddy Pain. His stage name T-Pain, short for “Tallahassee Pain”, was chosen due to the hardships he experienced while living there.

T-Pain was just 10 years old when he turned his bedroom into a music studio. He used a keyboard, a beat machine, and a four-track recorder at the time. He eventually became part of the rap group Nappy Headz in 1999. In 2002, T-Pain founded his own label, Hard & B.

T-Pain got to record “I’m Fucked Up”, a cover version of Akon’s single “Locked Up”. He got the attention of singer, record producer, and entrepreneur Akon. Akon offered him a deal with his label, Konvict Muzik. After signing with singer Akon’s Konvict Muzik, he founded his vanity label imprint, Nappy Boy Entertainment, established in 2005.

Today, T-Pain is one of the finest entertainers. He has released 6 studio albums. He has collaborated with several successful performers. He has earned two Grammy Awards from 12 nominations, one with Kanye West for “Good Life” and the other with Jamie Foxx for “Blame It”.
