Sean Carroll O’connor was born in 1993 in  Atlanta, Georgia, United States to his parents Hugh O’Connor and Angela O’Connor. As of 2022, he is 30 years old. He is the only known child of the couple. His father was adopted by his grandparents.

Sean’s father Hugh was born in Rome, Italy. When he was just six days old, he was adopted by Carroll and his wife, Nancy (née Fields). He was named after Carroll’s younger brother, who died in a motorcycle accident in 1961. When Sean O’connor’s father was 16, he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The actor survived cancer with chemotherapy and two surgeries but ultimately became addicted to drugs.

Sean’s father committed suicide

Sean O’Connor’s father had been addicted to different drugs and substances for 16 years. On March 28, 1995, the third anniversary of his marriage to Angela, Hugh called his father on the phone. During the Call, he told him he was going to end his life. He said he believed he could not beat his drug addiction and could not face another drug rehabilitation program. 

Carroll called the police, who arrived at Hugh’s Pacific Palisades, California, home just as he shot himself. The police later determined he had cocaine in his blood. At the time of his death, Hugh was survived by his parents, his wife Angela Clayton, and his two-year-old son Sean.

As said earlier, Hugh died on his third Anniversary. According to reports, Sean Carroll O’connor’s mother Angela O’Connor called him to see how he was doing, but he wasn’t okay. Hugh’s widow explained that he was hallucinating and thought their conversation was somehow broadcast over the neighborhood. Shortly after they hung up, Hugh called Carroll to let him know what he is about to do.

His father’s body was cremated, and his ashes were originally buried at the Church of St. Susanna in Rome, Italy. Later, they were moved to the mausoleum of the Pontifical North American College in Campo Verano, Rome, Italy. Today, he has a cenotaph at the Church of St. Susanna.
