Who Is Sam Raimi’s Brother, Sander?

Sander Raimi was born in 1954, in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan, USA to Celia Barbara (née Abrams), a lingerie store proprietor, and Leonard Ronald Raimi, a furniture store proprietor. He was one of five children of his parents. His siblings are Ted Raimi, Sam Raimi, Ivan Raimi, and Andrea Raimi Rubin.

Most of Sander Raimi’s siblings are involved in the entertainment industry. His brother Ted born Theodore Raimi is a character actor, director, comedian, and writer. He is known for his roles in The Evil Dead, Evil Dead II, and the Spider-Man trilogy, among others. Sander’s brother Ivan Mitchell Raimi is a physician and screenwriter.

Ivan works as an emergency physician in Chicago, traveling to Los Angeles occasionally to work in Hollywood. He created the short-lived television series Spy Game and co-wrote the stories and screenplays for Spider-Man 3 and Drag Me to Hell. Sander’s brother Sam born Samuel Marshall Raimi is a film director, film producer, screenwriter, and actor.

Sam Raimi is known for directing the Spider-Man trilogy, the Evil Dead franchise, Darkman, The Quick and the Dead, A Simple Plan, The Gift, Drag Me to Hell, Oz the Great and Powerful, and many more. He is the co-founder of the film and television production company, Ghost House Pictures, founded in 2002.

Sander Raimi’s sister, Andrea Raimi Rubin is a court reporter. Sander attended Groves High School, Birmingham, where he was a member of the National Honor Society. Unfortunately, Sander’s life was cut short after he died in 1970 by drowning while on a scholarship trip to Israel.

Sander Raimi was just a teenager when he died. According to a source, Sander used to perform magic tricks for his younger brother Sam Raimi and his friends. After Sander passed away, Sam learned to perform the tricks himself. Sam disclosed that Sander first introduced him to Spider-Man, igniting his love for comics.

Sander Raimi’s death left his family heartbroken, however, after his death, his family became very close. His brother Sam Raimi said that the trauma knitted the remaining family closer together and “colored everything he’s done for the rest of his life.”

What Happened To Sam Raimi’s Brother?

Sam Raimi’s brother Sander Raimi died on 23 August 1970, at age 15–16 years in Rehovot, Central District, Israel. He died in Israel, where he was attending a summer science session at Weizmann Institute. He was a drowning victim. He is said to have died in an accidental drowning.

Sander was chosen to attend the Weizmann Institute session because of his outstanding scholastic achievements. He was reportedly the youngest of 65 students from throughout the world. He was buried at Clover Hill Park Cemetery, Birmingham, Oakland County, Michigan, USA.

Sander Raimi’s mother Celia Barbara Abrams died on 21 August 2016, at age 87 and his father Leonard Ronald Raimi died on 20 May 2021.
