Rodney Eric Bainbridge Atkinson was born in the year 1948 but his full date of birth is not known. He will be 75 years old after celebrating his birthday in 2023. He is one of the four sons of his parents Eric Atkinson, a farmer and company director, and Ella May (née Bainbridge). His parents were married on 29 June 1945.

Rodney Atkinson has three brothers, Rupert Atkinson, Paul Atkinson, and Rowan Sebastian Atkinson. Unfortunately, his brother Paul died as an infant. What caused Paul’s death is not known. Rodney and his brothers Rowan and Rupert were brought up in Consett. Rodney attended Newcastle University.
