Robert has pretty much liked to stay out of the spotlight for the most part, although he did follow in his father’s footsteps for one film, Heart and Souls, in 1993 according to his IMBD profile. Robert’s acting career is not as successful as that of his father.

As said earlier, Robert’s parents are Bob Newhart and Ginny Newhart. How did his parents meet? Bob and Ginny’s decades-long romance dates back to 1962. His mother Ginny Newhart met his father, Bob Newhart, who has been her lifelong partner on a blind date, set up by comedian Buddy Hackett, in Los Angeles in 1962. Robert’s mother who at that time was serving as the babysitter for Hackett’s children when one day Buddy Hackett had a conversation with her concerning Bob- He revealed that- “he’s Catholic and you’re Catholic, and I think maybe you should marry each other”.
His mother at that time did not want to exchange vows with someone from the entertainment industry like Robert’s grandfather, Bill Quinn, who would not get a paycheck every week. The young lady decided to give it a try and they soon met, had dinner together, and played pool at Hackett’s house.
Robert’s parents, Bob and Ginny eventually build a strong bond and got married on January 12, 1963. Even with the bond, his mother was unsure even on the day of her marriage, when her father reportedly had joked that he could still get her out of it if she wanted.
They tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony in the presence of their friends, family, and loved ones. Fortunately, Ginny never had to regret marrying Bob, and after spending five decades together with him, she revealed to ‘City and Shore Magazine’ in an interview in January 2013 that “it turned out fine”.
Robert’s parents had four children, as previously stated: Robert, Timothy, Jennifer, and Courtney, all of whom were raised as Catholics. They also have ten grandchildren. Bob was frequently required to travel to shoot for his films and TV shows throughout their long marriage, while her mother cared for her and her siblings in their Bel Air home. Robert’s mother worked from home.
Robert William Newhart’s father rose to prominence in 1960, when his album of comedic monologues, The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart, became a best-seller and topped the Billboard pop album chart; it is still the 20th-best-selling comedy album in history.
