NDC Legal Team: We Cannot Go on Anymore- They Have Not Been Fair To Us

John Mahama and The National Democratic Congress ( NDC) have raised series of issues regarding the pending election petition case being heard at the Supreme Court of Ghana.

There was drama when the Supreme Court Judges sitting on the case set out the rules for the commencement of the hearing.

The Lead lawyer of Mr. John Dramani Mahama, Tsatsu Tsikata urged to court to hear their applications. Earlier, the sitting Judges had dismissed some interrogatories filed by the lead Lawyer, Tsatsu Tsikata. He also told the Judges that the timelines on the case should not be served with disregard to justice as they need more time to put things together.

As of Thursday, January 21, 2021 the legal team of Mr. John Dramani Mahama had filed an application for stay of proceedings of the 2020 election petition.

They are once again pleading the court to abolish the plans of hearing the main case until the request for their review are granted.

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen political program, a member of the NDC’s legal team, Lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe indicated that justice must be served on every Ghanaian equally.

He went on to indicates that the argument suggesting the legal team of John Mahama is delaying the process is neither here nor there. The petition is just at its initial stage and making such an assumption is necessary.

People from the other side are only creating the impression that we are playing delay tactics to the court. We don’t know what they are talking about. This is just a few days since the case was called but they are telling us we are delaying time. The case management is supposed to be five days. These are just the initial stages and three of court sitting cannot be classified as a delay. At least we are all Ghanaians and justice must be served equally. We cannot continue to keep quiet. We will ensure the right things are done

Lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe Said

He also indicated that lawyer Tsatsu Tsikatsa has practiced law for over forty-five years and must be treated with respect as he deserves.
