Early Life

Nancy Dolman is a Canadian born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She was born on September 26, 1951. She has a brother who is director Bob Dolman.

Nancy attended her high school at York Mills Collegiate Institute in Toronto. She also attended the University of Western Ontario and earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy.

career

Nancy Dolman has worked as a comedic actress and singer. She is known for her role in Soap (1977), Landon Landon & Landon (1980) and It’s a Living (1980). She had a recurring role as Annie Selig Tate on the ABC sitcom Soap.

Nancy performed in the Canadian Rock Theatre production of Jesus Christ Superstar in the early 1970s, which traveled to Las Vegas and Los Angeles, and recorded an album with the group at MGM while they were in Los Angeles.

Nancy appeared in the 1985 cable television special Martin Short: Concert for the North Americas. She owned an antique clothing store called Reflections of Ambrosine.

In 1985, Nancy retired from her entertainment career. She became a homemaker and full-time mother to her children.

Personal Life

Nancy Dolman was married to Canadian actor Martin Short. They dated each other for a while and got married. They tied the knot on December 22, 1980. The pair met during the run of the 1972 Toronto production of Godspell.

Nancy was Gilda Radner’s understudy in the legendary 1972 production of “Godspell”. Gilda Radner is an actress and comedian.

Martin and Nancy were happily married and had their home in the Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles. They had a vacation home in Lake Rosseau, Ontario as well.

Martin and Nancy adopted three children. One of the kids is Katherine Elizabeth who was in born 1983. She graduated from New York University and is a social worker.

Oliver Patrick who was born in 1986 is also part o the adopted kids. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business and is an employee of Warner Brothers.

Also, Henry Hayter, a graduate of the University of Notre Dame is Martin and Nancy’s adopted kid. He was born in 1989. Martin and Nancy were together for 36 years.

Death

Nancy Dolman died on August 21, 2010, in Pacific Palisades, California afterling with ovarian cancer. She was 58 years old when she passed away. According to the Los Angeles County Coroner, she died of natural causes.

Nancy’s remains were cremated and her ashes were scattered from the dock of the Short family cottage, onto the waters of Lake Rosseau, Muskoka, Ontario, Canada.
