She was living with her paternal grandmother after her parents separated.

Lisa Lopes used to play with a toy keyboard when she was 5 years old. She composed her songs and by the age of 10 years, she formed the musical trio The Lopes Kids with her siblings, with whom she sang gospel songs at local events and churches. She relocated to Atlanta to audition for an open cast call for a new girl group through her then-boyfriend.

Jamal’s mother, Lisa started a female trio called 2nd Nature. The group later became TLC, derived from the first initials of its members at the time: Tionne Watkins, Lisa Lopes, and Crystal Jones. Lisa was rapping and singing backing vocals on TLC recordings. She took part in the creative forces behind the group, receiving more co-writing credits than the other members.

Lisa Lopes designed the outfits and staging for the group and contributed to the group’s image, album titles, artworks, and music videos. She received four Grammy Awards for her work with TLC. Lisa Lopes appeared on the singers’ edition of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. She also opened UNI Studios, which she had created for recording solo projects, to the public. Jamal Lopes’ mother was killed in a car crash while on vacation and shooting a documentary about charity work in Honduras. The documentary was released as The Last Days of Left Eye and aired on VH1 in May 2007.

Lisa Lopes died instantly at the age of 30 years on April 25, 2002, in La Ceiba, Honduras. Her car swerved off the road to avoid a truck then sharply to the left as she tried to avoid an oncoming car. Her car hit two trees and eventually somersault several times, throwing Lisa and three others out of the windows. Jamal Lopes’ mother Lisa’s funeral was held at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, Georgia, on May 2, 2002.

    You know full well that this is not Lisa Nicole Lopes & the birthday is May 27th 1971 is that even Jamal in the photo? She took in 2 kids after she met their mother in rehab however, according to accurate sources neither adoption was finalized just like she was never married to Andre Rison she passed away shortly after calling off the wedding.
