Gregory Kung is the son of Debra Paget and her ex-husband, Louis C. Kung. Kung’s mother, Paget is an American actress and entertainer. She is perhaps best known for her performances in Cecil B. DeMille’s epic The Ten Commandments and in Elvis Presley’s film debut, Love Me Tender, as well as for the risqué snake dance scene in The Indian Tomb.

Gregory’s father, Kung was a Chinese-American oil industry executive. His parents were bankers and politicians H. H. Kung and businesswoman Soong Ai-ling. Through his father, Kung was a descendant of Confucius. His maternal aunts were Soong Mei-ling, wife of Chiang Kai-shek and First Lady of the Republic of China, and political figure Soong Ching-ling.
Gregory Kung’s mother Paget left the entertainment industry in 1964 after marrying his father, Ling C. Kung. They got married in a beautiful ceremony in the presence of their friends, families, and loved ones. However, Gregory Kung’s parents’ marriage didn’t last forever, their marriage ended in divorce in 1980. The reason behind the divorce was never made public.
Gregory Kung’s father died in 1996 in Houston, Texas. Before his father, his mother, Paget married actor and singer David Street on January 14, 1958, but she obtained a divorce on April 11, 1958.
On March 27, 1960, she married Budd Boetticher, a prominent director, in Tijuana, Mexico. They separated after just 22 days, and their divorce became official in 1961.

Later in her career, Gregory Kung’s mother, Paget became a born-again Christian. She hosted her own show, An Interlude with Debra Paget, on the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN), a Christian network, in the early 1990s, and also was involved in Praise the Lord. She occasionally appears on TBN as a guest.
In 1987, the Motion Picture and Television Fund presented Gregory Kung’s mother with its Golden Boot Award, which is awarded to those actors, writers, directors, and stunt crew who “have contributed so much to the development and preservation of the western tradition in film and television.”Independent filmmaker Mark Rappaport paid tribute to her in his 2016 documentary essay, Debra Paget, For Example.
