Glynn Daly is the sister of Tyne Daly and Tim Daly. She is the daughter of actor James Daly and actress Mary Hope (née Newell). Aside from Tim and Tyne, Glynn has another sister Pegeen Michael Daly. She is of Irish descent, her ancestors being from Limerick and County Kerry. Glynn was raised in Rockland County, New York, where her sister Tyne started her career by performing in summer stock with their family.

Her father James Daly was an American theater, film, and television actor, who is perhaps best known for his role as Paul Lochner in the hospital drama series Medical Center, in which he played Chad Everett’s superior. Her mother Hope Newell was also a stage actress but played minor roles.

Glynn Daly is married to American composer for film and television, Mark Snow. Among his most famous compositions is the theme music for the science fiction television series The X-Files. The theme reached no. 2 on the UK Singles Chart. Glynn’s husband, Snow also wrote the music for another Chris Carter series, Millennium, and the background music scores for both shows, a total of 12 seasons.

Her father was Gay

According to her brother, Tim Daly during an interview on CBS News Sunday Morning in 2016, their father, James Daly came out to Tim as gay a decade after divorcing his wife Hope. He said- “my parents had a long and difficult marriage mostly because my father was gay um not many people know this” Glynn’s father’s struggle to come to terms with his sexual orientation nearly created a rift between him and his family.

As homosexuality was still considered a mental illness until the early 1970s, he and his wife tried and failed at “curing” him. After their divorce, James decided to limit his contact with his children out of fear that they would end up mentally ill themselves.

Aside from Glynn Daly’s siblings- Tyne Daly and Tim Daly, her niece, Kathryne Dora Brown, and nephew, Sam Daly are also actors. her sister Tyne appeared on Daly’s TV series, Foreign Intrigue, as a child. She also played Jennifer Lochner, Paul Lochner’s adult daughter, on Medical Center in the 1970 season 1 episode Moment of Decision. James and his daughter Tyne both guest-starred separately in the original Mission: Impossible TV series. Tim appeared as a child with his father in Henrik Ibsen’s play, An Enemy of the People.
