GIJ Management sued for interfering in SRC elections

News making waves on the internet reveals that the Management of the Ghana Institute of Journalism, GIJ, has been sued.

For interfering in the Student Representative Council( SRC) elections, the Management of the Institute of Journalism (GIJ) has been sued.

Some of the interim SRC Executives of GIJ issued the summons on management Yesterday. According to them, Management’s closure of the school for virtual academic work after 12 weeks of re-opening made it impossible for SRC elections to be held.

They also alleged that management acceptance of a petition from some concerned students to set-up an interim management committee for students and withdrawing the recognition of the interim SRC executives is ultra vires and unconstitutional.

They, therefore, aver that unless restrained by the court, management will hold elections for the student leadership contrary to the GIJ SRC Constitution and its Undergraduate Students Handbook.
