Elizabeth Alda is an American actress and also the second daughter of Alan Alda. As an actress, Elizabeth is known for Night of the Creeps (1986), The Four Seasons (1981), and The Four Seasons (1984). Her father is a six-time Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award winner and a three-time Tony Award nominee.

Elizabeth Alda was born on August 20, 1960, in  New York, New York, United States to her parents Alan Alda and Arlene Alda. As of 2023, she is 60 years old. She has two other siblings- Their names are Eve Alda and Beatrice Alda. She is the second child of the family with Eve being the first and Beatrice being the last born. The siblings share a special bond as they have been at various events supporting each other.

Elizabeth Alda Followed in the footsteps of her father

Though her elder sister Eve didn’t follow in her father’s footsteps, Elizabeth on the other hand did. At a very young Alan Alda’s daughter decided to follow him. To fulfill her daughter’s dreams, Elizabeth made her first film appearance in her father’s 1981 directorial debut The Four Seasons. She also went on to appear in the 1986 science fiction horror comedy Night of the Creeps.

Her father’s role as Hawkeye Piere on the 1970s hit show M*A*S*H stole the comedic hearts of many. In addition to his acting skills, he also directed 32 episodes of the show, including the series finale special.

The actress’s acting career was pretty short-lived, however, as she then went on to pursue a career in special education. “Elizabeth [was an] actress for a while,” Alan once told the Saturday Evening Post. “But then Elizabeth decided she didn’t really care for acting. She became a teacher of the deaf and a special education teacher in general. [My daughters] all have advanced degrees and I’m very proud of them.” Though she didn’t have an interesting career like her father she found another way to make an impact.

Her mother is an Author and Photographer

Elizabeth Alda’s mother Arlene Alda is an American musician, photographer, and writer. She started her career playing clarinet professionally, then moved on to photography and writing children’s books. Her book Arlene Alda’s 1,2,3 (Tricycle Press 1998) won an American Library Notable citation. She also wrote the popular Hurry Granny Annie.

Her parents got married on 15, 1957after they bonded at a mutual friend’s dinner party; when a rum cake accidentally fell onto the kitchen floor, they were the only two guests who did not hesitate to eat it. Taking about that interesting moment, Elizabeth Alda’s father revealed- “We did eat the rum cake off the floor and were inseparable after that. But I was captivated by her even earlier in the meal when I heard her at the end of the table laughing at my jokes. She had me at Ha.”

They have been married for more than 3 decades and still loved up.  “My wife says the secret of a long marriage is a short memory,” Alan told Closer Weekly revealing the secret to his long marriage, adding that it “seems to work!” He also added “I don’t think we spoil each other, we just love each other,” he added. “Without her, I wouldn’t do an awful lot because every time I’m leaving the house to do some work, she says, ‘You’re going to be great.’ 

On July 31, 2018, Alan Alda’s father appeared on CBS This Morning and announced he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease three years earlier. Elizabeth Alda and her siblings are all in to support and offer their help to their beloved father.

Elizabeth has been spotted at various events with her parents. Alan Alda, his wife Arlene Weiss, and daughter Elizabeth Alda attended the premiere of “Sweet Liberty” on April 22, 1986, with smiles on their faces at the Academy Theater in Beverly Hills, California.
