She was the oldest of two children. She has a brother called William McCormack. She is said to have battled adversity from a young age.

Eleanor Stier was surviving independently by the age of 16 years after a falling-out with her mother. She is a product of the Rhode Island School of Nursing and eventually, she became a nurse. She worked as a nurse in area hospitals and nursing homes until she was well into her 70s.

Eleanor Stier reportedly slept in the janitor’s closet at a clinic where she worked for about a month before she was given a bed to sleep in by a good Samaritan. She retired from nursing in the year 1996, per sources.

Moore instructor in the mathematics faculty, in 1951. Eleanor and John met when John was admitted as a patient in the hospital where Eleanor was working.

They fell in love and later began a relationship. Eleanor got pregnant and John abandoned her after she told him about her pregnancy. There are claims that John Forbes Nash Jr left Eleanor Stier because of her social status, which he thought to have been beneath his. He frequently belittles Eleanor for her lower-class status and lack of education.

John Forbes Nash Jr kept their relationship a secret from his family and friends. Eleanor Stier gave birth to a son named John David Stier, who later became a nurse. John David Stier was born on June 19, 1953. He is 69 years old as of 2022. Eleanor Stier ended up raising her son as an unmarried single mother.

Eleanor often worked the night shift while John David Stier was looked after by babysitters when he was young. She was 84 years old when she died on 6 April 2005.

Eleanor Stier’s ex John Forbes Nash Jr started showing clear signs of mental illness in 1959. He spent years at psychiatric hospitals being treated for schizophrenia. His condition slowly improved. His struggles with his illness and his recovery became the basis for Sylvia Nasar’s biographical book A Beautiful Mind (1998).

A film directed by Ron Howard also had the same name. John Forbes Nash Jr and his wife Alicia died in a car accident on May 23, 2015, on the New Jersey Turnpike near Exit 8A in Monroe Township, NJ. He was 86 years old when he died and his wife Alicia was 82.
