Cary Benjamin Grant is the grandson of Cary Grant. Benjamin’s grandfather was a British-American actor. Known for his transatlantic accent, debonair demeanor, light-hearted approach to acting, and sense of comic timing, he was one of classic Hollywood’s definitive leading men from the 1930s until the mid-1960s.
Cary Benjamin Grant got his name after his grandfather Cary Grant. When asked why Jennifer named her son the Hollywood royalty, she answered by stressing the fact that her son Carry’s generation likely wouldn’t know who her father was.
Jennifer believed it was something nice for her son Cary Benjamin that his grandfather was an icon. She added she had only one chance to pass along that name. Benjamin Grant is not the only child of his parents, he has a younger sister whose name is Davian Adele Grant. Many people argue Cary Grant’s grandchildren might take after him someday.

Jennifer Grant was born in Burbank, California, to actors Dyan Cannon and Cary Grant. Her parents divorced when she was only two years old. Jennifer had a close relationship with her father for the rest of his life.
Partly because her father did not want her to become an actress, she tried other things for several years. As a teenager during high school at Brentwood School in Los Angeles and on break from college, she worked as a babysitter, a stock clerk at the Village store in Pacific Palisades, a grocery store checkout cashier at the Rainbow Grocery in Malibu, and a waitress at the Pioneer Boulangerie restaurant in Santa Monica.
After graduating from Stanford University in 1987 with a degree in American Studies, she worked for a law firm and followed that with a job as a chef at Wolfgang Puck’s Spago restaurant in Beverly Hills.
When Cary Benjamin Grant’s grandfather died in 1986, he left his mother, Jennifer half of his $60 million estate; the other half of the estate went to her stepmother Barbara Harris. Davian Adele Grant’s mother has volunteered as an actress and mentor with the Young Storytellers Foundation.
Cary Benjamin Grant’s Grandfather, Cary Grant
Cary Benjamin Grant’s Grandfather was married five times. He wed Virginia Cherrill on February 9, 1934, at the Caxton Hall registry office in London. She divorced him on March 26, 1935, following charges that he had hit her. The two were involved in a bitter divorce case which was widely reported in the press, with Cherrill demanding $1,000 a week from him in benefits from his Paramount earnings.
He married Barbara Hutton in 1942, one of the wealthiest women in the world, following a $50 million inheritance from her grandfather Frank Winfield Woolworth. They were derisively nicknamed “Cash and Cary”, although Grant refused any financial settlement in a prenuptial agreement to avoid the accusation that he married for money.
Grant lived with actor and companion Randolph (Randy) Scott off and on for 12 years. The two met early on in Grant’s career in 1932 at the Paramount studio when Scott was filming Sky Bride while Grant was shooting Sinners in the Sun, and moved in together soon afterward.
While Scott’s biographer Robert Nott states that there is no evidence that Grant and Scott were homosexual, their lifestyle prompted debate over Grant’s sexuality, and was common knowledge in Hollywood at the time that each was bisexual in behavior, before the Motion Picture Production Code and other factors made being forthright on gay lifestyles an even greater professional liability.
