Killers Of International Journalist Gunned Down, Others Robbers grabbed By Police

The Anti-Robbery Task Force of the Ghana Police Service has gunned down two suspected robbers on the Kintampo_Buipe-Tamale highway. The robbers according to preliminary investigations conducted by the police were involved in the murder of the international journalist Taalay Ahmed on Monday 23 August 2021 on the same stretch of road.

Four other notorious robbers of the same gang were apprehended after a fiery shootout that ensued between the Police and the robbers. The robbers who were killed in the process were Hamidu Umaru, and Haadu.

The four others in police custody are; Saaju Buakri, Bertor Saabi, Ali Amadu, and Isaad Seidu. They are being accused of serious robberies and murder cases that have been reported on the highway within the northern territories.

Ammunition including two locally manufactured pistols and cartridges, machetes, bayonets, stun guns, and among others were retrieved from them. A statement issued by the Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Police Service, and signed by the acting Director-General of the unit, ACP Kwesi Ofori assured the public that the police have instituted measures to clamp down on these criminal activities and make communities safe.

The public was entreated to volunteer information about any suspected criminal activity to the police so they could help make Ghana safe and peaceful.
