The house where they wed became the couple’s first home together, and it used to belong to Bing Crosby, so Griffith said the couple sometimes liked to play his records. “We pretend it’s Bing singing in our shower,” Griffith joked to Detroit Free Press in 1975. He also confirmed Solica made a fine wife who “puts up with me and my children, is a fine person, and cares about my kids.” Solica and her ex-husband didn’t have any known children.

In 1977, Griffith told The Times that he was bringing his bride to his hometown, Mt. Airy, North Carolina so she could meet all his kinfolk and see the family farm with all the livestock. Griffith confirmed that he was a “happy man” then. He joked that his wife, Solica Cassuto would be in for a culture shock — but admitted that when it came to meeting his “flower child” bride, “So are the relatives.

Though the couple looked cute together, things didn’t last forever between Cassuto and Griffith as they ended their marriage eight years later in 1981. Much has not been heard from Solica Cassuto after her divorce from the actor and Comedian.

What happened to Solica Cassuto’s ex-husband, Griffith?

Griffith’s first serious health problem was in April 1983 when he was diagnosed with Guillain–Barré syndrome and could not walk for seven months because of paralysis from the knees down. On May 9, 2000, he underwent quadruple heart bypass surgery at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia.

After a fall, Solica Cassuto’s ex-husband Griffith underwent hip surgery on September 5, 2007, at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. Griffith died on July 3, 2012, from a heart attack at the age of 86 at his coastal home in Manteo, Roanoke Island, in Dare County, North Carolina. He was buried in the Griffith family cemetery on the island within five hours of his death.
