11 killed, five others in critical condition in Tamale-Buipe highway crash

In a car accident which took place on the Tamale-Buipe Highway, 11 people were killed.

The Ghana Police Service in the Northern Region has confirmed this.The accident which occured was between a DAF Tipper Truck with registration number NR 578-F and a minibus with registration number AS 2872-20 carrying 18 passengers.

“Eleven persons comprising nine male adults, one female and one female child including the driver of the minibus died on the spot and five persons sustained injuries”, the police statement said.

According to a police statement the driver of the truck loaded with sand traveling from Yapei to Tamale collided head-on with the Toyota minibus which veered off its lane on the section of the road at Alipe near Yapei.

However,the injured persons were rushed to the Yapei Health Center and later referred to the Tamale Teaching Hospital for further treatment.

Bodies of the victims have since been deposited at the morgue for preservation and autopsy. The badly damaged vehicles have since been impounded for investigations
