John Meehan had a history of being a drug addict, stalking and threatening women. He lied about being a doctor but he was a nurse who had been struck off the list for extorting patients’ prescription drugs.
The series leads up to the moment in 2016 when john Meehan executes a pre-meditated attack on Debra Newell’s daughter, Terra Newell, attempting to stab her. She manages to get hold of the knife and stabbed him in self-defense. He later died. Debra Newell ended her marriage to John and John reacted by harassing and threatening Debra. In March 2016, Debra left John.
