He is best known for most game shows telling the judge after he/she answered the specific type of question saying, “Is that acceptable?” whether the answer is correct or not and is known on most of his game shows for telling the audience “No coaching audience, please!” by not shouting out answers when an important question is being asked.

On June 2, 2006, Martindale received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Martindale announced on Facebook on January 28, 2021, that he had one of the pilots for the ABC version of Deal or No Deal and would upload it once his YouTube channel reached 18,000 subscribers. On July 19, he reached his goal and uploaded the pilot to his YouTube channel.
On June 6, 2021, Martindale began hosting The History of Rock ‘n’ Roll, a two-hour weekend look back at music from the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s that is nationally and internationally syndicated. Martindale, producer/engineer Peter Jay Gould of The Intervale Group, and writer/producer Gary Theroux, who wrote and produced Drake-Chenault’s 1978 52-hour marathon version of The History of Rock ‘n’ Roll, are part of the production team. He is 90 years old as of 2023.
