Who Is Dolores O’Riordan’s Ex-husband, Don Burton?

Don Burton was reportedly born on January 27, 1962, in Canada, which means he is 61 years old as of 2023. His father is said to have been the owner of a trucking business. He may have brothers and sisters but their information is not available. He grew up in Canada and had the desire to work in the music industry from an early age.

Don Burton is said to have worked alongside his father in the trucking business while he was also making music. He served as an administrative officer in his father’s firm before eventually starting his music career. Don became the tour manager of the band Duran Duran, a position he no longer hold. He also reportedly managed the Irish rock band “The Cranberries”.

Don Burton met singer and songwriter Dolores O’Riordan in the U.S. while Duran Duran and the Cranberries were on tour together. They began dating soon after they first met. After dating for a while, they decided to get married. On 18 July 1994, they got married in a beautiful ceremony that happened at Holy Cross Abbey in County Tipperary.

Don Burton and Dolores O’Riordan’s marriage has been blessed with three children, Taylor Baxter Burton, Molly Leigh Burton, and Dakota Rain Burton. Don already had a son Donny Burton. According to Heavy, Don was previously married to Manon Sprong with whom he had his son Donny. During Don and Dolores’s marriage, they faced ups and downs.

There was a time when Don and Dolores were sued by their son Taylor’s former nanny, Joy Fahy. This is said to have happened in the year 2004. The Telegraph has it that, Joy Fahy sued the then-couple “for breach of contract and false imprisonment, claiming she was held at their isolated Canadian home, where she says she finally barricaded herself in a bedroom when they allegedly threatened to keep her passport after a ferocious row.”

The former nanny, Joy Fahy lost her case, and “Mr Justice Quirke said he was satisfied on the evidence that Dolores O’Riordan-Burton and Mr Don Burton were deeply devoted to their son, Taylor, who was a baby at the time of the alleged incidents,” per the Irish Times. Don and Dolores were described by Mr Justice Quirke as “exemplary and caring” parents.

The then-couple, Don Burton and Dolores O’Riordan lived at The Coach House, a medieval-style residence beside Ballyhannon Castle at Quin in County Clare, Ireland, in 1996. In 2009, they moved to Buckhorn, Ontario, Canada, living in a waterfront home on Big Bald Lake. In 2013, they moved to Abington, in the north of Dublin. They moved back to Canada in November 2013.

Before moving to Canada, the family spent several years on their 150-acre stud farm in Kilmallock, in south Co Limerick. Dolores once said: “Don, who’s a Canadian, loved horses. So being around the animals and enjoying the farm was an amazing experience. Then we decided to move to Canada to be nearer family. It’s a beautiful country with a lot to offer. We lived in a log cabin, surrounded by bears, wolves and all that great outdoor stuff.”

Dolores returned to live in Ireland when it was getting to the end of 2013. Eventually, things didn’t work out for Don and Dolores. They got divorced in September 2014. Their three children Taylor Baxter, Molly Leigh, and Dakota Rain lived with their father after the divorce. Don Burton’s ex-wife Dolores O’Riordan told the Irish News:

Unfortunately, Don’s ex-wife Dolores died on 15 January 2018, at age 46. She was found unresponsive in the bathroom of her London hotel room and was pronounced dead. She died as a result of accidental drowning in a bath due to alcohol intoxication. Don Burton attended Dolores’ funeral alongside their children, relatives, Dolores’ boyfriend Olé Koretsky, and other well-known personalities.
